Feeling Sheepish Etsy Update – Silk, Milk and mohair

July 21, 2009 at 12:05 am (Etsy Updates) (, , , , , , , , , )

*pant pant pant*

Holy guacamole, I updated the shop today – and there is STILL more to post later this week! This stuff has been piling up and waiting to be photographed!

Lots and lots of luscious milk fiber, mulberry silk brick, and dyed mohair locks.  I’m also introducing our new carbonized bamboo – amazingly silky soft, gun-metal grey bamboo fiber.  It’s really awesome stuff!  I paired it up with our undyed bamboo to make Yin and Yang, a great way to try out these fibers. 🙂

I’ve also been doing a little spinning, which is restful – well, mostly.  Unless the new dog gets a hold of the center pull ball that I made to ply from, and treats it as a wonderful, wonderful chew toy.  *headdesk*  Thankfully I’ve only lost a little bifer this way – but he is definitely more interested in eating fiber than our older dog.  Not only am I irritated that the fiber gets chewed, but I DEFINITELY don’t want him ingesting it and having it do nasty things to his insides!  So I’ve had to change my habits and be REALLY careful about putting fiber away in boxes after I’m done with it.  Oh well, it’s good for me – and my house. 😉

This yarn is what I’ve done with a bunch of my Phat Fiber samples – lots of samples from the March and June boxes. 🙂 There are also some random leftover bits from my own dyeing in there – I was trying to use up lots of bits and pieces. 🙂  When I’m prepping the rovings for the shop, sometimes a bit of the roving will fall off while I’m fluffing, or just isn’t quite up to my quality standards – and all those little bits get thrown into a big box.  I end up spinning all those odds and ends, and come up with some fun yarns with a little bit of everything in them – like this one.  I’m calling it ‘Celtic Ocean’.  It’s a nice light worsted weight, about 120 yds – I need to figure out what I want to do with it. That’s always the hardest part. 🙂
